Sixty-First Day...

Well, the weekend is finally here. I hope everyone enjoys a couple of days of rest and relaxation. The weekends in the NICU are pretty much the same as the rest of the week. In NICU-land the important thing is the number of days rather than the specific date or day of the week. Although yesterday's date was significant as it was my two month "birthday." Mommy made a couple of cakes for the NICU staff to celebrate the occasion and to thank them for their GREAT work. They all said it was yummy! You'd think that I'd get a little bit since they're celebrating me and my progress, but it's all good. All the cake goes to the workers and all the glory goes to God, as it should. I wonder if my folks will give me a monthly "birthday" party when I get home? Uh...not betting on that one, LOL. I've had a good week and hopefully that will continue. The Lord has truly been faithful and ever so gracious to me and my family. Yesterday I took my first shot at nursing, which is a HUGE step! The lactation specialist told Mommy I did great and she was proud of me. A lot of little people my size have trouble when they start trying to feed naturally. I didn't experience any of those issues, PRAISE! I was able to get 5 cc (ml) of milk on my own. The plan is for me to nurse once a day and see how things progress. My first attempt at natural feeding really tuckered me out. Nursing requires a lot of strength and stamina because you have to be able to breath and obtain the milk orally, all at the same time. Sounds easy, but when you're my size it's a little tougher. Pray that everything goes well and I am strong enough to do the job. Also pray that all goes well for Mommy during this process. My breathing has been good and I'm still doing well with my bottle feedings, PRAISE! I'm now feeding once every 12 hours by bottle, once a day by nursing/OG, and the rest by my OG tube. I'm still at 30 ml per serving every three hours, but now I'm feeding three different ways. COOL! I'm about to get started on my morning routine so I'm gonna run for now. Y'all have a great day! Blessings, JSR.
Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.
